I am a Product Manager and have been with Morplan for 30 years, which means I have been in this industry for 30 years!
Before Morplan I went to college and got a BTEC diploma in business studies. I have only ever worked for one other company who made computers. I started as a stock controller and by the time I left there after 8 years I was a senior buyer.
In 2009 my role with Morplan changed from being a senior buyer to a product manager. The two roles were merged and I was then able to continue to get the best possible suppliers/prices but also introduce new products.
This progression in my role made complete sense as I was visiting suppliers, factories, exhibitions, I had a good understanding of what the trends were in terms of colours, materials and styles. I also had a good understanding of what our customers wanted.
The world has certainly changed a great deal over my years at Morplan. I am always interested in finding new products that I think our customers would like. I like to design new products that will set us apart from our competitors and keep my ranges looking fresh.
Sustainability is my main focus when introducing new products. We have a responsibility to educate our customers and show that we take this challenge seriously.
